I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

f your letter No. 30052/27 of the 22nd March

transmitting copies of telegraphic correspondence with

the Governor of Hong Kong regarding certain proposals

for dredging the bed of the harbour in that Colony.

We enclose a copy of a letter dated

23rd March which we addressed to Messrs. Coode,

Fitzmaurice, Wilson and Mitchell regarding this matter

and a copy of their reply, also dated 23rd March,

wherein they furnish their views regarding the

particular points enumerated in your letter under

acknowledgment on which their advice was required.
